Robert Moses

Robert Elliot Moses Jr. – Returned to his Creator on August 6th, 2021. Born in 1951 on Six Nations, survived by sister Judith Ann Moses and husband Peter Lyman. Robert joins his parents Robert Sr. and Leona Moses (nee Hill), sister Sandra and brothers Richard and Ronald in the afterlife. Robert was an adored uncle to Matthew, Nathaniel, Sebastian, Alex, Rachel, Sarah, Melissa and Jaime.

Robert, or Bobby as he was known, grew up mainly in Fort Erie, Ontario after the family moved from Six Nations. Robert had a wicked sense of humour and an uncanny ability to see the bright side of life. He was an avid sports fan of hockey and baseball and particularly horse racing, where he once travelled for a season helping to groom the famous Northern Dancer.

Robert graduated as an accountant from Bryant and Stratton College in Buffalo N.Y., and was variously employed by Toronto Pearson Airport, Nordicity Group Limited (Ottawa) and the Canada Revenue Agency (Toronto) from which he retired in 2016. In his over 25 years with the CRA, Robert made lots of friends. He is remembered by former colleagues as “Bob, a very gentle and kind man with a great sense of humour and always a story to tell about his many adventures in life. He was a knowledgeable activist for equity issues and proud of his Indigenous heritage. Bob was a free spirit, fun, easy going and young at heart – he always had candy with him. He was a good friend to many. He will be missed for his smile and his happy-go-lucky attitude”.

Robert also leaves behind his dear friends Nalini and Samual. Thanks are extended to Pastor Jordan and especially Elder Little Brown Bear who performed a traditional completing the life circle ceremony. Thanks are also extended to those in the Michael Garron Toronto Eastern Health Network palliative care unit who cared for Robert.

Cremation has taken place.  Burial of cremated remains will be at the family plot at St. Peter’s Anglican Cemetery, Ohsweken.  Arrangements by Styres Funeral Home, Ohsweken.

Bobby “ the brain” Moses was the one of the funniest people on this planet. He, cousin Ricky and myself had way too much fun together. I am broken-hearted but at the same time immensely grateful he was a part of my and my family’s life. I think Rachel summed him up perfectly “ he was one of a kind”. Love to all cousin Larry
