Margaret Aileen BanksĀ  nee: Weston

It is with heartbreaking sorrow that we record the passing of Margaret Aileen Banks 1938-2021 Wife and companion of John (Jack) Banks for over 65 years. Mother of Alison Burton, Dan; and Timothy Banks, Paula. Sister of Harley Weston , Marianne; and Audrey Mutrie, Barry.
Margaret loved life and lived it to the fullest. She loved children, especially the grade one students she taught in Hamilton and Haldimand county. She loved animals particularly one cantankerous barn cat she named Lady Katherine or Kitty for short. She loved watching birds, could name myriads and maintained several feeders; participating in feeder watches and supporting wildlife organizations. She loved growing flowers and vegetables, starting her own plants from seed and canning or freezing the results. She loved cutting the acres of grass on our country property with her little John Deere 165. She loved singing and did so in several choirs including the Haldimand Choralairs for over 40 years. She loved helping others; supporting the local Foodbank and doing community work with the Caledonia Kinettes for many years. She loved to read the daily and weekly newspapers along with at least one and often two novels a week. And while she was reading she would often knit or crochet mitts, socks, Afghans, throws and many other items for charity and her family. She was an excellent cook baking our daily bread and muffins from scratch and delicious meals of every sort including over campfires. She loved camping which we did for many years all over Canada and the US often in a little 8X8 bell tent. When we or one of her siblings or spouses had a decade birthday we all made a special trip to somewhere in Canada. She enjoyed those trips immensely. She loved theatre, attending the Theatre Aquarius with her special lady friends; and The Lighthouse Theatre with Jack.
Above all Margaret loved her children and their spouses; and the many happy times we had together celebrating holidays, birthdays, ,yearly visits to a cottage and just plain being together. She loved us and we loved her devoutly and miss her immensely.
