Judy Alice Kett (nee Rowntree)
March 23, 1950–October 3, 2026
It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved wife, mom, grandma, sister, aunt, and the heart of our family, Judy Alice Kett, at the age of 76. Judy was the devoted wife of her high school sweetheart, Paul, with whom she shared 54 wonderful years of marriage. Together, they built a beautiful life and a family that was her greatest pride and joy.
She was the proud and loving mom of Ryan and Tanya, Rob and Laurie, Kelly and Stuart, and Kara and Anand. She was a cherished grandma to Connor, Bradyn, Michael, Andrew, Josh, Noah, and Macy, and nothing made her happier than being surrounded by her family.
The oldest of six siblings, Judy was a beloved big sister to Janice and Albert, Wilbert and Darlene, Nancy and Tom, Ruthanne and Brad, and Betty and Greg. She was predeceased by her parents, Beverly and Ethel Rowntree, and her parents-in-law, Grant and Ruby Kett. She will also be deeply missed by her beloved sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Sharon and Fred, and Diane and George, as well as her many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, and cousins, whom she loved dearly.
Mom was a truly beautiful person who was so deeply loved. She had a sense of humour like no other and could always make us laugh with her stories and anecdotes. She had a way of making even the simplest moments memorable, and her laughter was one of the things we will miss most.
She loved spending time with her family, watching everyone play sports, travelling out East, exploring wherever she could with Paul, and spoiling everyone at Christmas. She loved settling in to watch HGTV, and she especially loved sharing a cold Coke Zero and a chocolate bar with the people she loved.
Judy was the Matriarch of our family. She was the one who brought us together, celebrated our accomplishments, made us laugh, and made our family feel like home. Her love was constant, generous, and unconditional.
Her absence leaves a space in our hearts that can never be filled. We are heartbroken to say goodbye, but we are so incredibly grateful for the 76 years of memories, laughter, love, and family that she gave us. We will carry her with us in everything we do and we’ll find you someday, wherever you are going to be, because you are the sweetest I’ve ever seen.
A private family ceremony will be held, followed by cremation. Burial and a Celebration of Life will be scheduled at a later date, where family and friends will have an opportunity to come together to honour and celebrate Judy’s beautiful life. Arrangements by Hyde & Mott Chapel, Hagersville. www.rhbanderson.com
Good night, Mama Bear. We love you. We’ll see you soon.
