Joyce Irene (Schumacher) Dougherty
Aug 18, 1932 - July 24, 2022 age 89 years

Beloved wife of 68 years to Donald Dougherty.  Loving mother of Ruth Dougherty (Mike), Barry Dougherty (Sue), David Dougherty (Barbara), and the late Brian Dougherty.  Dear grandmother of Danica Heath (Stefan), Carly Heath (Lorenzo), Megan Dougherty (Tyler), Bradon Dougherty, and Sydney Dougherty.  Daughter of the late Lawrence & Pearl (Schweyer) Schumacher.  Sister of Fay Schumacher (Olive May).  Aunt to several nieces and nephews.

We will remember our loving wife, mother, and grandmother for so many reasons.  She was actively involved with her church community and also manned the emergency phone for the Fisherville Fire Department for many years.  Joyce enjoyed dancing, reading, talking with her many close friends but her biggest passion was camping with Don.  They visited every state and province, even camped in Paris. She was a strong and loving wife, an involved Mom, and enjoyed nothing more than to cuddle her grandchildren in the rocking chair. Her kindness, generosity and especially her beautiful smile will be missed by all.

Funeral service will be held at Hyde & Mott Chapel, 60 Main St. S. , Hagersville on Thursday July 28, 2022 at 1 pm. (visitation 1 hour prior to service).  Interment at Trinity Lutheran Cemetery, Fisherville. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Heart & Stroke Foundation or Charity of your choice.  www.rhbanderson.com

Ruth and family. I am so sorry you have lost your mom, grandmother and wife. Anytime I saw her when I was a child, there was always a smile on her face. She made an impression with her presence in a room - one of grace and kindness. I pray you will find joy in the memories of her.

Your mom was a special lady. She always had a smile on her face and a kind word to share.
Her grandchildren held a special place in her heart and was quick to share a story about them. I always enjoyed the times I spent with her and her willingness to share Schumacher family history. Our sincere condolences David, Darlene and Derrick Schumacher

Since leaving the funeral home on Thurs, I keep remembering all the many memories. The one that stands out is the time we were camping with my mom and dad in Florida at the same park as Don and Joyce. Joyce arrived at the door the next morning with fresh strawberries. (Just her way of saying welcome) I will always remember her smile as she waved goodbye, priceless=:)
