Carol Donna Liscombe
Sadly, on February 11th, Carol Liscombe passed away suddenly and unexpectedly. Carol will be greatly missed by her sister Judith (Bob) and brothers David (Marion) and Michael (Paula Jongerden). Carol is predeceased by her parents Frank and Audrey (nee Wilbur), and sister and brother-in-law Sharon and Dan O'Hoski. Carol's passing leaves a hole in the lives of her nieces and nephew and will be most deeply felt by her great niece and nephew Jordan and Ryan, along with their many cousins. Carol had several friends and colleagues who will miss her daily presence in their lives.
In her younger days, Carol was an avid athlete. Carol was a strong softball player and was instrumental in her team's victory in the provincial championships. She followed her father and uncle's love of hockey and played ringette for years. She fostered her love of the game by actively participating in the sport, beyond her time as a player, through her years of coaching and refereeing.
Carol acted as the meeting place for several family gatherings, as her parents had before her. This was a highlight for Carol as much as she may have grumbled about it. She kept everyone caught up with the latest news around town and the family, and was our greatest supporter, attending several graduations and important family events over the years. She was a staunch town supporter working to grow and maintain the business she operated with her brother Michael. Her family home was always filled with animals and Carol’s home was no different. Anyone who knew her, knew Carol's love and heartbreak at the loss of her beloved Blackie and then Nika a few years later. Her bright light was her service dog Elmer. His absolute devotion was not just because of his training, but from the incredibly special bond that only they shared.
Carol passed away peacefully, and in her home, exactly as she wanted. The family would like to extend a most sincere thank you to her doctors and specialists, many of whom took special interest in Carol, going above and beyond with their care.
A funeral service will be held on Friday, February 25th at 11am at the Hyde and Mott Funeral Chapel, 60 Main Street South, Hagersville. Visitation will be held on Thursday, February 24th from 7 - 9 pm. In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation to the Lions Foundation of Canada Guide Dogs at dogguides.com/donate. www.rhbanderson.com
