Karen Dianne Connell
It is with deep love and sadness that we announce the passing of Karen Connell (née Sault), who died peacefully on Friday, July 31, 2026, at the age of 72. Karen was predeceased by her father Orville, her mother Mabel, her son Karl, and her sister Sharon (James). She carried each of them in her heart throughout her life, honouring their memory. She is survived by her son Jerry MacKinnon (Tracy), her cherished grandchildren Tyler, Rebecca (Michael), Alexis, and Haley; and her beloved great-grandson Cooper, who brought her immeasurable joy. Karen is also survived by her loving siblings: Wendy, Fred, Carolanne (Bruce), Becky (Dave), Shelley (Craig), and Kelly (Cheryl). Their shared memories, laughter, and lifelong closeness were among the things she treasured most. She was also a devoted aunt to many nieces and nephews, each of whom she loved deeply.
The family would like to extend a heartfelt acknowledgement to the Rock family - Derek, Emma, Devin, Erin, Morgan, Danielle, and Simon - her neighbours who became family in every meaningful way.
Karen made the courageous decision to return to school and pursue a degree in Social Work, a decision that became one of the defining achievements of her life. She went on to work at The Children’s Aid Society of Brant, where her compassion and dedication to supporting children and families left a lasting impact.
The family will honour her life with visitation at the Hyde & Mott Chapel, R.H.B. Anderson Funeral Homes Ltd., 60 Main Street, South, Hagersville on Wednesday August 5, 2026 from 4-7 p.m. Funeral service to take place in the chapel on Thursday August 6, 2026 at 1 p.m. Following the service, Karen will be laid to rest among loved ones at the Hagersville Cemetery. www.rhbanderson.com

I am deeply sorry for your loss. I worked with Karen for 17 years and she was so kind-hearted, compassionate and an all around wonderful person. I feel privileged that I had the opportunity to get to know her, and my heart breaks for your loss. Rest in peace, Karen. You will never be forgotten!

So sorry to hear about the passing of Karen. Sending my condolences to her family and friends. I had the pleasure of working with Karen when I first started working at Brant when we were on the same team together. She always made me feel like a part of the team and I always enjoyed listening to her stories. I'll always remember Karen bringing in her warm homemade tea biscuits. May she rest in peace.

I had the privilege of working with Karen for many years. We shared an office when I first started working at The Children's Aid Society of Brant. She was so lovely, kind-hearted and had so much compassion for kids and families. We learned a lot together and I will remember her very fondly.
