To all of the Fairburn family, I would like to extend my deepest sympathy to the loss of a special friend and mentor. I had the great privilege of assisting Barry and eventually taking over the lay-pastoring at Zion when Barry's time and devotion was needed to tend to Cathy's debilitating condition. No matter what the circumstance were, Barry always comforted and advised me, an untrained and very green lay-preacher, to relax and enjoy the sharing of Christ's good news with the very special Zion family. This was also very important for my wife, a new Canadian citizen from Korea, to accept Cathy as a Canadian sister and Barry as an 'Oppa' (older brother). I can honestly say that Barry and Cathy were both responsible for Sylvia to truly feel and appreciate becoming a Canadian. Though I feel the loss of a good friend, I know that Barry is finally reunited with your mother.

Barry was a good friend at Hagersville United. We enjoyed many lunches after service on Sundays. He was always smiling, laughing, kind and generous with his wisdom. He kept his smile, kindness and wisdom all the time, even when suffering. He reached out and helped others with whatever he could offer if only an uplifting word.

Our deepest condolences to the Fairburn family with hearing of Barry’s passing. Chris and I were so glad to have Barry and Cathy as neighbours and they will be missed. We have fond memories of countless conversations, Barry riding his bike around the neighbourhood and will never forget his smile, his laugh and friendship. Thank you for memories Barry.

It was such a pleasure to have known Barry. We met at Hagerville United and he instantly became a welcome part of our Church family. He had a presence that will surely be missed by all who knew him. I loved listening to his stories about "Trains". He is now with his beloved Catherine whom he missed dearly. Thoughts are with the family at this time.
