Peacefully at home after a short battle with cancer with his family at his side, Alex made his way home to Jesus.  Loving husband to Ellen Bakker.  Amazing father to Wendy (Denis), Maxine (Tom), and Darlene (Paul).  Special grandfather to Michelle (Alex), Nicole, Darrin (Maryna), Luc, Danielle (Joe), Kyle, and Olivia.  Great grandpa to Lucian, Finnick, Barrett, and Marshall.  Special “Dad” to Rick (Deb), Ed (Terry), Don (Renee), Dave (Becky) and families.  Loving brother to Louise (2023) (John) (2001), Stan (2005) (Joan) (2023), Skip (2018) (Jean), Elmer (2019) (Florine), Jennie May (Don) (2016), Tony (Ruthanne) (2018), and Dorothy (Grant).  Survived by many nieces, nephews, cousins, special friends Gord &  Ann Akins, Dave, Jake, Charlie, and Dennis.

Alex was a First General Roads Forman for the County of Haldimand in 1967, Kohler Fire Department for 40 years, an avid camper, traveller, farmer, and jack of all trades.  Always willing to lend a hand to help and eager to take a drive to see something around the country side.  A true gentleman.  Special thanks to nurse Jenna!

A family graveside service will be held at Kohler Cemetery.  A service to honour his life will be held at South Cayuga Community Church, 6182 Rainham Rd., Dunnville on Saturday, July 22, 2023 at 11 am. with a light lunch and fellowship to follow.  As an expression of sympathy donations may be made to the South Cayuga Community Church or the West Haldimand General Hospital Foundation.  Arrangements by Hyde & Mott Chapel, Hagersville.  www.rhbanderson.com

Sorry to hear of Alex passing away. Ron thought of him often from days gone by working on the county roads.
So glad we had a short roadside chat when he was cutting grass.Thinking of you Ellen and family.

Sending along my condolences and prayers for the family, as the Bible comforts believers: to be absent from the body is to be present with the Lord (2 Cor. 5:8) - Pastor Andrew

Our thoughts and prayers are with all of you at this time.
We remember hearing of the many road trips and Alex’s delight in using emojis when texting.
He is in a better place but for those left behind there is grief. May God keep you and comfort you.
Special love to Maxine, Tom, Danielle, Joe & kids.
