Norma Fryett

Norma Fryett - photo.jpg

Norma Idell Fryett (Wilker), 86, passed away on June 5, 2020.
Predeceased by her loving husband, Ken (1993). Loving mother to Terry (Candace) and Paul (Kristy). Nana to Adam (Cynthia), Jennifer (Paul), Brad (Melissa), Carly and Chad. Great Nana to Kennedy, Brandon, Cooper, Ava and Van. Sister to Joan (Ross) Wilson. Aunt to several nieces and nephews. Predeceased by her parents, Fred and Idell Wilker.

Norma’s passion for bridge, books, and theatre was eclipsed only by the friends she made along the way. If neighbours and friends were wine, her glass would be full. She was an avid traveller who visited more than 35 countries with her late friend, Norma Curran. Special thanks to the 3rd floor staff at WHGH. Cremation followed by a family graveside service. Donations to the WHGH or charity of your choice would be appreciated by the family. www.rhbanderson.com

Please accept my sincere sympathy as you deal with Norma's loss. I worked with Norma at St. Peter's Hospital from the mid-seventies and we have kept in touch throughout our retirement years. She will be greatly missed by all who were lucky enough to have been her friend.

Terry & Paul: Our heartfelt sympathies to you and your families. Your Mom and Dad were such a big part of our family growing up. I remember a story about Norma driving our parents home and Ken telling Norma that she was in a 60 m.p.h. zone. Norma replied " But my foot feels more comfortable at 70 m.p.h.". We remember your parents hosting our parents 25th anniversary surprise party. There are so many fond memories of the Good Ole Days. Jack and Jim McGrath and families.

So sorry for your loss. Norma was a great lady, she was the first person to welcome me to the neighborhood. We had some wonderful talks about her life and travels. She loved her family and spoke of them often. I will miss her wonderful smile, waves and shout outs as she drove by.

Terry & Paul...
I am so sad to hear about your mother. I spoke to her not so long ago - at about the time Norma Curran passed away. I called because I knew she would be sad. We had a great chat. And then I called Bob and that was another great chat.
I always referred to my mother's friends as "The Normas & The Bettys" There were a couple of Dorothys, Audreys, and Ruth Anns in there to make it really interesting, but each was so special. And they showed me how important it was to have friends - especially in these unusual times. Somehow, the news of your mother makes me feel like it's the end of an era. I should learn to play bridge.
I am sending you and your families a socially distanced hug.
Mary

Terry, Paul & families,
We are so sorry to hear of your Mom's passing. She was such a good friend to our Mom. BRIDGE, BRIDGE, BRIDGE > was their major bond. Our Mom enjoyed their regular bridge games. Then Norma started Mom on duplicate bridge and that was even better. They didn't seem to care if they won or not as long as they played well - they didn't play by the 'rules' but played well together. They kept an eye on their weekly stats & if they got their name in the paper it was special (the $1 each for a 1st place win was fun & it happened many times). I'm sure the 'bridge gods' are missing them or maybe the two of them have hunted down others and started their own game. I spoke to your Mom not too long ago and had a wonderful chat. Our thoughts are with you. Take care... Carolyn, David & Don Hewitt and families

Terry, Candace, Paul, Kristy and Families. Sorry to hear of Norma's passing. We have great family memories of your mom, dad and our parents get togethers and travels. One fond memory I have is your mom telling me how happy Ken was that one of the last rings he made before retiring, was for me to give to Judy. I'm sure now the 4 of them are having a good time catching up. Our thoughts are with all of you.
