March 29, 2019 – Martin William Smith, 76, passed at home surrounded by his children Carole, Carla, and Derek (Ashlee) along with his long-time Partner Terry-Lynn Brant and his faithful protector, Zeus.  Marty is also survived by his ex-wife Verna, sister Marilyn (Bunny), along with many cousins, nieces and nephews.  A loving Grumpy to   Grandchildren Aicha, Djamel, Daelon, Caius, Raynee and Rodderek. A doting Great-Grumpy to Finn. Pre-deceased by his Parents Ervin & Lorna Smith and sisters Carole and Reva.  As a Teacher and Sports enthusiast he touched the lives of his students and his many friends.  He spent summer breaks working in construction with his dearest friend, Larry. For a time, he played and or managed with the Townline Sluggers, Six Nations Arrows, the Ohsweken Selects and various other teams over the years winning many championships.  He loved RVing, listening to bluegrass and watching sports live and on TV.  His favorite teams to watch were the Leafs, Blue Jays and the Yankees.  Marty will be resting at his home at 939 Sour Springs Road after 3pm. on Saturday March 30, 2019 where friends are welcome to drop in. The funeral will be held at home followed by burial at the homestead beginning at 11am. Sunday March 31, 2019 followed by a reception at The Gathering Place by the Grand, 2593 Chiefswood Road, Ohsweken, ON.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Six Nations Dialysis Unit.  www.rhbanderson.com

Just learned of Marty's passing.Marty was not only a great friend, companion and colleague. He was one who had a whole lot of respect and caring for the many students and friends his life touched in so many ways.Gonna miss my friend but I'm sure i'll see him on the other side. Best wishes to all.
