Marion Lorraine Cherry

June 3, 1942 - August 12, 2025

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Marion Lorraine Cherry (Brown) of Garnet / Hagersville & more recently Caledonia. She was a beloved mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister, and friend, who left this world peacefully to join her late husband, Ralph Gordon Cherry, and our Heavenly Father in Heaven.

Marion was a woman of warmth & strength, being very enthusiastic, active, independent and caring . She dedicated her life to her family, the family farm Chericrest Holsteins, Haldimand Holstein Club, Hagersville Figure Skating Club, 4-H & The Haldimand Dairy Princess, & Garnet United Church and helping others in the community . Her greatest pride was her grandchildren & great-grandchild nurturing them with love and kindness, instilling in them values of hard work, enthusiasm, and perseverance. Her guidance and steadfast support were the foundation on which her family thrived.

She will be deeply missed by her loving family and friends. Children/grandchildren Deborah Cherry-Francey of Markham, ON, Branden Francey and Joshua Francey of Kawartha Lakes, ON.; Teresa (Cherry) & Greg Michell, Toby, Adrianne Michell & (Cobi) of Dundas, ON; Craig Cherry, Sam and Ryan Cherry of Hagersville, ON, Trevor & Brenda Cherry, Quinton, Carson and Hayden Cherry. Great granddaughter Harper.

The many extend families members she loved connecting with through the years, and very close friend, spiritual confidant Sherrie Moore. Marion’s life was a testament to assisting others and helping the Agriculture and Local Communities.  She loved — family gatherings, heartfelt conversations, years of scouring cemeteries and archives studying her family trees. Fondly remembering her involvement with Garnet United Church. She enjoyed her earlier years helping with Hagersville Figure Skating Club, Haldimand Holstein Club, Walpole Dairy 4-H Club and the Caledonia Fair. Including many years ago helping host the Hewitts Ice Cream Booth at the Caledonia Antique Show. More recently assisting neighbors and friends to appointments and trips to Six Nations bingo where she loved making many new friends and even the occasional win ;).  She loved helping others and sharing get togethers over lunch or community happenings. Her laughter could fill a room, and her hugs made especially the grands feel safe and loved.

Family and friends will gather to celebrate Marion’s life at Hyde & Mott Chapel of R.H.B. Anderson Funeral Homes Ltd., 60 Main St. S., Hagersville on Saturday, August 16th, 2025, 11:00 - 1:00 with service to follow. Internment at Garnet Cemetery. Those who knew her are invited to share their memories and stories, honoring the life of a woman who touched so many.  www.rhbanderson.com

She is gone from our sight, but her love will forever remain in our hearts.

Condolences to Deborah, Teresa, Craig, Trevor and immediate family members all.

I have known Marion since her and Ralph's high school courting days, standing up with them at their wedding on my eighteen birthday, celebrating her life's journey (sister-in-law) and finally spending time, by chance, with Marion last week at WHGH. We shared a few laughs and memories, received a big hug and a fond kiss on the cheek. Thanks for the memories!

Awwww... so sorry to hear about Marion. I'm going to miss her so much. My dog loved her and whenever he saw her he'd run to her, tail wagging, all excited. She even babysat him several times. Marion was so kind and giving and cheerful and always there for everyone. She was one special lady. RIP Marion. I'm glad that you're back with your husband again.

MY deepest sympathies to all of the family. She will be sadly missed by all that knew her and I feel fortunate to have met her . She was a wonderful and caring friend and neighbor always ready to help wherever she could and I am grateful for all of the care an knowledge that she has shared with me. It is sad that she is gone, however I feel comfort in knowing "that she is resting in the arms of the Lord" as she would frequently say. I hope that we can find peace in that. It is difficult that I didn't get to say goodbye to my dear friend but she will not be forgotten and will always have a place in my heart with many cherished memories of lunches, laughs and sometimes long waits.
Goodbye My Friend until we meet again.

Our longtime friendship began with Ralph and Marion through Holstein Canada Board of Directors. They both welcomed us to the Board fellowship…and a new , long - lasting friendship. Marion took me under her wing ( the two Marion’s ☺️) and we’ve had years of friendship…mostly over the phone in the past few years..Many others have expressed all the beautiful things about Marion’s personality ,outreach and generosity …her true spirit. May all be comforted and find peace knowing she is now at peace ,with our Lord and Saviour and those she loves .Love and blessings,Larry and Marion Wannamaker,Napanee,On .
