I grew up going to school with Kathleen. We were casual friends at school but enough for me to knew her kind heart.

About 15 years ago, I hadn’t seen Kathleen since high school and my family took me for a birthday dinner at The Keg. Kathleen saw me from the kitchen and came out to say hello. She greeted me with a warm hug and we were genuinely happy to have a chance to catch up. As I mentioned, we didn’t know each other well but well enough to share a bond.

Much to my surprise when we finished our delicious meal and went to leave, our entire gigantic family bill was paid by the Keg through Kathleen’s magic. I was so surprised and touched by her warmth and generosity.

I was devestated to learn of her passing and wanted to reach out to her family to send my deepest condolences and also let you know this story. Her kindness touched many. She will be missed by all. The world lost a bright light. ♥️

We were so saddened and shocked about Kathleen's death. Like with so many students, we teachers lose track of them after working so closely for a year or two. On one of our anniversaries, we celebrated by going to Twisted Lemon. We were seated by a window that looked directly into the kitchen. To our surprise we heard "Hello Mr. and Mrs. Gillies" with the same easy friendliness we quickly recognized. Through out the meal we caught up about Jamie, her Mom and Dad and the life journey she had followed. Our special night was made even more enjoyable with the running conversation we had as she found breaks from her chef responsibilities.

We just wanted to say how sorry we are for the lose of Kathleen.

I worked with Kathleen at the Twisted Lemon. She was like a mother to me. We were close along with everyone whom we worked with in our tightly knit group. Kathleen always had the warmest welcomes - I remember always getting big and long hugs from her when we saw eachother at gatherings, it was so wonderful.

She was always full of joy and loved to have fun. I also knew Kathleen had amazing passion when she spoke about music and art - not to mention she was also awesome to work with. She loved when I would play guitar and sing and made me feel like the center of the world. Kathleen really brightened my outlook on life and I will always remember her as one of the kindest souls in this world. I loved her very much and I will miss her greatly.

I met Kathleen , when she came for a job interview at my restaurant, when she let me know she wanted to come work there I sent her a gif of Kermit the frog with his arms up cheering Yeah!!!. We hit it off right away. Over the next few week our friends grew and the menu she prepared for me was a hit. Her passion for cooking was an inspiration. She was amazing with a great sense of humour, we would cook and have great laughs about the world and the people in it. She was so inspirational to me that I went to cooking school. When I told her she said that , that was a great idea . I was so happy she was proud of me . I never got to say goodbye because of the restaurant and it’s Obligations but her menu and her spirit and love and laughter will remain in my heart forever and I will take her on my cooking journey with me always. Thanks for being you Kathleen and inspiring me in the Kitchen . You will never be forgotten but missed forever. XOXO. YEEAAAAYYY!!!!!
