Suddenly at home on Wednesday, September 26, 2018 in his 78th year. Beloved husband of 49 years to Judi (Hobbs) Rushton.  Loving father of Daniel (deceased), Paul (Penny), Janine (Jay Kemp), and Greg.  Dear Papa to Justin, Courtney (Alex),  Ethan (deceased), Kierstin, Aidan, Alex, and Great-Grandpa to Kadin, John, and James. Brother to Judith (Joe Baca).  Also survived by several nieces & nephews.  Predeceased by parents John & Loreen, and sister Margaret (Harry Freeman).  Dave was a lifetime dairy farmer and was very involved in the community with various organizations, including the Ontario Milk Marketing Board, OFA, International Ploughing Match 1996, 4-H, Junior Farmers, Scouts Canada, North Erie Shore Historical Society, Cottonwood Mansion, Trillium Foundation, and a lifelong member of Faith Centennial United Church.  Always a cowboy at heart, he went on numerous trail rides with the Dry Lake Saddle Club and to other places like Montana, led several trail rides at his farm, was a member of Christian Cowboys and recited cowboy poetry at many local events. The family will honour his life with visitation at Faith Centennial United Church, 28 Main St. W., Selkirk on Saturday September 29, 2018 from 7- 9pm and on Sunday, September 30 at 1pm with the funeral service to follow at 2pm. Interment will take place at Selkirk Union Cemetery.  As an expression of sympathy,  donations may be made to Faith Centennial United Church, Canadian Arthritis Society, or the charity of your choice. www.rhbanderson.com

Dear Judy & all your children.
It is with much sadness that I heard of David’s passing tonight and I extend my deepest sympathy and love to you all. Of any man I have ever met, David was so kind & such a gentle man that he immediately captured a piece of my heart. He will be greatly missed for spreading his love to so many others. I am sorry I will not be able to see the family as you celebrate his life but know I am with you in my thoughts & prayers. Love Carleen

My grandmother and David's where cousins as well as Ivan Stadder. I'm sorry to here of his passing. I remember him as a young girl. He was so handsome. They lived across the road from Audrey and Charlie Stadder. We always came for the sugaring off. I would have recognized him anywhere.. All my love what a great life lived!

Dear Judi & Family;
We are so sorry we could not be with you this weekend because we are at a conference in Victoria, B.C.I have known Dave since Junior Farmer days, our fathers went to Holstein meetings together and we have enjoyed our recent times together at Holstein,church and NESHS events.Dave contributed to the community in so many ways and will be deeply missed.Our sincere condolences to you all.
