Joel Ashton Sault

July 6, 1984 - August 11, 2026

It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Joel Ashton Sault, Giizhigo Nini, at the age of 42.

Joel was predeceased by his grandparents, Wes and Sylvia Sault and Stan and Alice Vanevery, and by his father, Terry Vanevery (Possum).

He will be deeply missed by his daughters, Aaliyah and Kayli, and his granddaughter, Aliyra; his mother, Kim Sault; his sisters, Elix and Hayli (Craig); and his niece and nephew, Avee and Caden. Joel will also be greatly missed by his beloved dog, Asgard, and by his special friends, Trisha and Steph.

Joel was a charismatic and honest man who loved his girls and his dog with his whole heart. He was a skilled heavy equipment operator. Those who knew Joel will remember his personality, his straightforward nature, and the love he carried for his people.

Joel will be resting at 505 New Credit Road until his funeral service on Friday, August 14, 2026, at 1:00 p.m. at the MCFN Community Centre, 659 New Credit Road.

He will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by his family, friends, and all who knew him.

The family would like to express their gratitude to family and friends for their support; to the BGH Indigenous Navigator Services, and BGH CCU staff that provided compassionate care.

Arrangements by Hyde & Mott Chapel, Hagersville.
