Jean Isabel Kindy (nee Sickle)
September 10, 1944 – December 1, 2020

It is with great sadness we announce the passing of our dear wife, mother, grandmother and friend. Jean put up a courageous fight for over seven years against Lewy Body Dementia.   She remained at home in the care of her husband of 56 years, Terry Kindy.  She leaves behind her loving husband, Terry and her children David (Davina) and Dean, grandchildren Cameron (Rebecca), Cayla and Chaniece; sister Beth (Danny) Butler; brothers Bill (Marie) Sickle and Jim (Donna) Sickle, and Terry’s sisters June (Allen) Heuston and Sharon (Malcolm) Rigby, and sister-in-law Heather Kindy. Jean is fondly remembered by many nieces, nephews and many other family members.  She is predeceased by her parents George and Isabel Sickle and Terry’s brother Paul Kindy.

Those who knew Jean appreciated her sense of humour and willingness to open her home for meals and travellers.  She invested in her faith community because of her relationship with Christ. She faithfully supported the church community with her time, her money and her sharing of herself. While she knew there were things she could not do, she did do the things she could with all her heart, mind, soul and strength. Following Christ’s example she did her best to love her neighbour as she would herself. But sharing music was one of her most favourite things. Whether singing in trios or choir she was most comfortable sharing her faith in Jesus through song.

The family wishes to express thanks for all the care provided by LHIN (CCAC), PSWs so many but we appreciate each one of you.  We also wish to acknowledge the special care by CBI Nursing and the loving care the home care provided.  We are touched by the care and professionalism that Doctors Shirley and Phil Drijber displayed.  A very special thanks to Ruth who was with Jean from the onset of this terrible disease as a dear friend.

A public visitation will be held at the Hyde & Mott Funeral Chapel of R.H.B. Anderson Funeral Homes, 60 Main St. S., Hagersville on Friday December 4th from 2:00 – 4:00pm and 7:00 – 9:00pm.  The family will be holding a private funeral service on Saturday followed by interment at Selkirk Union Cemetery.  If desired, in lieu of flowers donations to the Church of Christ, Christian Chapel, Selkirk - Mission Fund.  Masks or facial coverings are required.  www.rhbanderson.com

Jean was always kind and caring to us. She had a great laugh and enjoyed her friends and family. She will not be forgotten! Years of singing in, and leading the choir, sharing her thoughts and feelings, and opening her home to many. We have been blessed to know Jean. Our thoughts and prayers are with you all.

When I joined the church in Selkirk, Jean took me under her wing and I enjoyed many hours singing with her in trio and she opened her home to us for meals and friendship. She was such a fun loving person and she made our family feel welcome. We were blessed to have known her.

Emily and I are saddened to hear of Jean's passing. After years of suffering, we know she is with her Lord and the suffering is over. I knew Jean well since we grew up together living on farms facing each other across the road. We attended the same public school, the same church, and many family events together. She was always ready with a friendly smile no matter the place or the circumstances. She will be missed by many, but our loss is her gain and her reward for a life lived well.

My condolences to Jean's family. I remember when Jean and Terry were married and also when David was born. I can still see Jean sitting in the car in the driver's seat with David on her lap. David loved to play with the horn and then imitate the sound it made. I also have a memory of visiting Jean and Terry in Selkirk with my sister Mary for a few days. Terry played the accordion which made the dog sing and howl. We had a grand time at the local fair, especially at the midway. When Jean was growing up and lived across the road from my family we occasionally got together to play board games and eat freshly baked cookies -- too many of them much to her mother's dismay. God bless you all!

My sincere condolences to you Terry, Dave, Davina and family, and Dean. Many fond memories come to mind in my younger years, babysitting the boys and learning tips from Jean. She was so kind and professional, a great neighbour, co-worker later at Kindy Furs and always a fine Christian friend. Again, my sympathies to you all.
