James "Jim" Strohm
James “Jim” Strohm, known to many simply as Homer, passed away on February 6, 2026. Born on June 5, 1954, Jim grew up in Hagersville, Ontario, where he earned an early reputation as a bit of a troublemaker. He lived and died on his own terms.
Jim was a truck driver his entire working life, a career that suited his independent spirit and love of the road. He was a proud Pittsburgh fan through and through—if it had anything to do with Pittsburgh, he loved it. When he wasn’t working, Jim could usually be found in his garage, his favourite place in the world. If the light was green, friends knew they were welcome to stop by, pull up a chair, and spend some time. That garage was where stories were told (and retold), opinions were shared (whether asked for or not), and friendships were maintained in Jim’s own unique way. Those moments, shared with his cherished friends and family, meant everything to him.
Jim was a complicated man and not always the easiest to get along with, but he was deeply loved by those who truly knew him. He is survived by his trooper of a wife, Dianne; his children, Chad (Elizabeth) and Stacie (Yvette) his brother, Randy (Joy) his sister, Donna; and the absolute joys of his life, his grandchildren, Presley and Brady, who could soften even his toughest edges
He was predeceased by his parents, Georgina and Lawrence Strohm, and sadly his sisters Cathie and Brenda, and his brothers Roy and Rob.
Endlessly loved (and often put on mute) by his in laws Dale (Frank), Patti, Gene (Helen), Barry (Sandy), (Scott), and many nieces and nephews
Jim lived life on his own terms, loudly, stubbornly, and authentically. He will be missed more than words can say, especially in the quiet moments when the garage light is no longer green.
Cremation has taken place and a celebration of life will be held at a later date. www.rhbanderson.com
