deBoer: Jacob (Jack)
Peacefully at the West Haldimand General Hospital, Hagersville on Monday November 9, 2015. Jack deBoer in his 86th year was called home to be with his heavenly father. Loved husband of Winnie (nee: Hogeterp) for 59 and a half years. Loving father (grandpa) of Doreen and John Kiers (Nicole, Jim, Jamie, Ken), Wayne and Joanne (Janelle and Nathan, Karen, David, Andrew), Ken and Heather (Tyler, Mark and Meagan, Holly), Gary and Arlene (Miranda, Matthew, Noah, Nathan), Judy and Ron Lemstra (Megan, Jenna), Glenda (Allie, Brianna) and proud great-grandfather of Carter Wensink. Brother of Tjitte deBoer and Ada and brother-in-law of Tina, Fopje, Wiep. Jack will also be remembered and missed by the Hogeterp family and his nieces and nephews. Predeceased by brothers, Gerrit, Eeuwe, Rouke, Auke and sisters-in-law Gre and Hammie. The family will honour his life with visitation at the Hyde & Mott Chapel, R.H.B. Anderson Funeral Homes Ltd., 60 Main Street South, Hagersville on Wednesday 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. A Celebration of his life will be held at the Maranatha Christian Reformed Church, 33 King Ave. York on Thursday November 12, 2015 at 11 a.m. Private Interment prior to service. Even though we haven’t seen you in a while, we hope you know that you are in our hearts and prayers. My mind goes back to the farm, helping Uncle Jack with the milking (actually, just mostly getting in the way), doing the haying (actually, just mostly getting in the way), and waking up early to do the chores (and then promptly falling asleep in the hay). The morals of the story are that city boys should never visit farms, and that Uncle Jack was one of the kindest, sweetest, selfless, and happy people you could ever meet.

Mr. deBoer was the custodian at Walpole North when my children were young. Our little boy came home and said the Mr. Divorce would such him up in the vacuum cleaner if he got in the way when he was cleaning. I told him his name was Mr. deBoer - he was adamant that it was Mr. Divorce. Mr. deBoer was so good with the kids and was always joking with them. It was always nice to have a little chat with him when I saw him in Hagersville. Our sincerest sympathy to his wife and family.
