Helena Lucille Logan (née Styres)
April 16, 1925 - August 29, 2026
Peacefully at her home, surrounded by the love of her family, Helena Lucille Logan of Six Nations passed away in her 102nd year.
Born and raised in Ohsweken, Helena was a proud member of the Tuscarora Nation. As the eldest of seven children born to Lucinda and Herman Styres, she learned early the value of hard work, dedication, and family devotion. She was the last surviving sibling of her generation of the Styres family.
In the 1940s, she wed her beloved husband, Harold Elwood "Joe" Logan. Together, they relocated their young family to California to build a new future and protect their children, where Helena proudly established her own boutique bikini shop in San Diego as an accomplished, professional seamstress. She returned to her native land in the late 1980s to care for her ailing mother, while simultaneously establishing her forever home on Six Nations. Helena will be warmly remembered for her incredible strength, unconditional love, sharp sense of humour, infectious laugh, and generous heart that always made everyone feel special.
Predeceased by her husband, Harold "Joe" Logan; her eldest daughter, Janice Lucille Logan; her youngest son, Jeffrey Wayne Logan; and her precious great-grandson, Mikey Hyatt.
Cherished mother of Dianna Lynn Hyatt Peterson (Chuck) and Joanne Karen Wallrath (Greg).
Adored grandmother of Michael Hyatt, Ginger Kinney (Ben), Sharron McArthur (John), Melissa Linton (Sean), Karen McArthur, and Michelle Coughlin (Seneca).
Proud great-grandmother of Camerin (LJ), Gabriel, Jonah (Haley), Jacob, Celeste (Nathan), Devon, Alexis, Victoria (Ryan), Janice, Christina, Colby, Cassie, Ally, Isla, Ben, Caroline, Lauralei (Kawika).
Blessed great-great-grandmother of Isaiah, Luna, Oakley, Kainalu, Kamaile, and Ohia. She will be deeply missed by her nieces, nephews, cousins, and many dear friends across Six Nations and California.
Funeral Service: Monday, September 7th at 11:00 AM at Styres Funeral Home (1798 4th Line, Ohsweken, ON).
Celebration of Life: Following the service, family and friends are invited to gather from 1:00 PM to 4:00 PM at the Gathering Place by the Grand (2592 Chiefswood Rd., Ohsweken, ON) to share memories and celebrate Helena’s life.
