Garry Carmen Porter

January 15, 1956 - June 27, 2026

It is with deep sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of Garry Porter on June 27, 2026, at the age of 70. Garry passed peacefully at the Juravinski Hospital in Hamilton, surrounded by the love of his family and close friends.

Garry was a hardworking and devoted truck driver for over 52 years, a career he took great pride in. Through countless miles on the road, he built a life founded on dedication, perseverance, and an unwavering commitment to providing for his family.
Outside of work, Garry embraced life with enthusiasm. He loved hockey, baseball, lacrosse, and a good game of horseshoes. A lifelong Toronto Maple Leafs fan, he remained loyal to his team through every season. He also found great joy on the dance floor, especially when George Jones was playing, as country music always held a special place in his heart.
Above all else, Garry's greatest love was his family. He will be forever missed by his beloved wife, Donna, and his children: Cody, Megan (Ryan), Cory, and Aaron. He is lovingly reunited with his cherished daughters, Kirsten and Taylor, whom he carried in his heart every day.
Garry was a proud and devoted Papa to Ryker, Daisy, Charlie-girl, and Preston, and great-grandson Leo, who brought immeasurable joy to his life.
He is lovingly reunited with his parents, Eleanor and Carmen. Garry will be dearly missed by his siblings: Cathy (Rod), Terry, Jan, Bill, Shelley (Sonny), Kelly (Neale), and Jody. He is reunited with his brother Wayne, sister-in-law Brenda, and niece Kylie, who predeceased him.
He will also be lovingly remembered by his brothers- and sisters-in-law: Rae (Nick), Diane, Pete, and Gina (Wease). Garry is reunited with his brother-in-law Wally, his mother-in-law Sandra, and his father-in-law Pete, who predeceased him.
He will also be fondly remembered by his many special nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, extended family, and countless friends, whose lives he touched with his quiet strength, unwavering loyalty, and generous spirit.
Though our hearts are heavy with loss, we find comfort in knowing that Garry is finally at peace and reunited with his beloved daughters and those who went before him. His memory will live on in every story shared, every country song played, every Leafs game watched, and every mile traveled. His love, strength, and unwavering devotion to his family will never be forgotten.
Forever loved, deeply missed, and always remembered.

The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to the doctors, nurses, and staff of the ICU for their kindness, compassion, and exceptional care during Garry's final days.

The family will receive friends at the Styres Funeral Home, 1798 4th Line, Ohsweken after 6pm Wednesday. Memorial service and Burial on Thursday July 2, 2026 at 11am.

I am so sorry for your lose. I met Gary when we worked for Laidlaw and became good friends. Life goes on and we both had different jobs and never really seen each other for many years. I did long distance trips and Gary stayed close to home. We met again by chance where I kept my truck and doing some work on it when Gary came up and surprised me about 3 years ago. Since than we tried to make a plan to meet for coffee and reminisce of our good old times. I will miss you my brother . May you rest in peace !
