Shaw:  David Michael

It is with great shock and sadness that proud parents Mike and Sandra Shaw announce the sudden passing of their son Dave Shaw (June 16th, 1985 - Sept 3rd 2018). He is greatly missed by his loving grandmother Lena Fowler and his wife Jessica Shaw. Nephew of Michael and Susan Fowler, Delbert and Sharon Miller, Larry and Carol Dredge, Gary and Nancy Shaw, Alan and Pat Wales and many cousins. He is greatly missed by his in-laws, John and Ann Meuris and brother-in-law Jeremy Meuris (Jessica Dudek).

Dave was a die-hard Habs and Buffalo Bills fan who loved nothing more than watching any sporting event with his friends, beer in hand, country music in the background.  He caught a fierce travel bug and could often be found joining his flight attendant wife on their many travel adventures.

He was a proud Haldimand boy and had many friends who were lucky to know him.
In his hometown, through his days at Brock University, and in his career at Arcelor Mittal Dofasco, Dave was loved, and always will be.

We understand that no words can express your grief and sadness and we invite you to come visit Dave on Thursday September 6th from 2-4pm and 7-9pm at Hyde & Mott Funeral Home, 60 Main Street South, Hagersville Ontario, N0A 1H0. We invite you to wear your favourite sports jersey to his Funeral Service on Friday September 7th, 2018 also at Hyde & Mott Funeral Home at 3pm.  Whether your jersey is blue, red, orange or yellow we promise there are no teams that day, just love for Dave.

Dave’s wife and family ask that you prepare your favourite Dave story and bring it to the Hagersville Legion following the Funeral Service.

Donations are not required, but if you feel so inclined we are welcoming donations to Hagersville Minor Hockey in memory of Dave, whose happiest days started on the ice with a stick and a pair of skates.

With a heavy heart and shock I offer my deepest condolences to your family. I can't imagine the pain and grief you all and Jess must be going through. I worked for many years with Dave at Dofasco and also played hockey with him.
As one of the older guys at Dofasco I have met many young/new employees starting their careers and Dave had immediate impact on me. His huge smile, warm heart , humor, kindness and zest for life rekindled my spirit in a sometimes dreary work environment. We had many laughs and fun times on the ice and a few beers all while discussing our favorite sports teams and the rivalry between them. Great times. He often talked of his family...his proud parents, his Dad's hunting trips and the dried sausage he let us all try ( it was awesome ) his Nonna and her baked goods ( which we also tried and loved ) and of course Jess. He loved her so much and showed pictures of their many travels around the world. I talked to Dave at length of their San Francisco trip and he gave me names of places and tips of where to go as me and my wife were about to leave and drive the coast. We went to almost every place that Dave & Jess recommended and it was fantastic. My own son is just a couple years younger than Dave ( they played hockey together too at Dofasco ) and it breaks my heart to think about this unbelievably tragedy. Dave felt like all these things to me rolled into one: friend, co-worker ,team mate, drinking buddy & son. I will miss him dearly. God Bless to you all and I hope you find peace in your hearts knowing the impact Dave had on people and the to know he was loved by many outside your family. My condolences. Tom Gollan

Our deepest condolences to the rest of the family. Jessica found her match in Dave and they complimented each other well, as a married couple should. But this was cut to short and the dreams that family and friends have for them is cut short. Jessica, our beautiful niece, our heart goes out to you. To the Shaws, Fowlers and Meurises, and other family members and friends, our heart goes out to all of you also. There are no words that can express love everyone felt for Dave and the joy and laughter he brought into the lives of all who new him, and now the sadness all feel in their heart and soul.

Dear Sandy and Family, with heavy hearts and sadness, your family and friends join you in sharing the grief and loss you feel at this time. How can David be taken so soon? How does one make sense of this tragedy? I only knew of David as a young boy, but I always enjoyed our conversations over the years, Sandy, hearing all about what David was doing, and only a short time ago getting married. I know he was a wonderful young man, because he was raised by you. He was kind, hard-working, and he loved his family. None of us can even begin to feel the extent of your loss. Please just know that you are in our thoughts and prayers, and I hope that you can find some comfort in knowing what a wonderful young man you raised, and the many lives that he has touched. God Bless, Lynne xo xo

Although I do not believe I got to meet Dave during my travels, we had many friends in common through Zeta Psi Fraternity, and I was deeply saddened to learn from them today about this tragedy. I look forward to hearing some Dave stories from the fraternity, because that is the best legacy that we can have - the memories of the impact that he has had on the people around him.
Dave's wife and family are in my thoughts and prayers.

My heart is breaking for all of you with the loss of Dave. He was an amazing guy and neighbor! He always waved his little wave with his fingers to me when he drove by and I will truly miss that. There were times when he would bring me down a plate of dinner cause he made extra and knowing I was alone. He always told me to come down anytime to talk if I was having a hard time. Mike and Sandy you raised a beautiful boy! Jess you were so blessed to have him in your life as your husband! Try to hold on to all the good times you have had together to get you through this tradgedy! Jess I am here for you anytime!
