Darryl Ian Powless
April 24, 1957 - February 18, 2026
It is with profound sadness that we announce the sudden passing of our beloved and irreplaceable DARRYL IAN POWLESS on February 18, 2026, at the Brantford General Hospital, Brantford Ontario. Darryl was born on April 24,1957, in Ohsweken Ontario. He is survived by his loving Son: Ogwaho Powless. His Siblings: Gail Ayres; Audrey Powless-Bomberry (Jim Bomberry); Harry (Susan McCall); Arlene Martin (Dan); Richard (Effie Panousos); Karen Martin (Jerry); Tony; Jacqui Powless (Ron Lynes) Sister in-laws; Patti Powless and Dennise Maracle and many nieces and nephews who adored him. He was predeceased by his Parents: Wilma & Ross Powless. His Siblings: Gaylord, Gary, Gregory, Victor and Jeffrey and nephews Darren Martin and Christopher Powless.
Darryl was a quiet man with a sharp wit and a warm heart. He was loving, caring, and deeply supportive of those he loved. A devoted and proud father, he would drive across the country in a heartbeat for his son — nothing mattered more to him than his family.
He worked as a Cement Mason and took great pride in his craft. A true jack of all trades, Darryl was smart, capable, and always willing to lend a hand. He loved hunting and fishing, and spending time with his family meant everything to him. Darryl had a special way of making each person feel important — like they were the only one in the room. That gift will never be forgotten.
He will be remembered for his quiet strength, his steady presence, his humour, and the deep love he carried for his family. He will be forever missed and always loved.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, February 21, 2026, from 1 - 2 p.m. at Styres Funeral Home, Ohsweken ON. Cremation to follow. www.rhbanderson.com

Condolences to the Powless Family. Darryl and his brother were a true force to be reckoned with when they played for the North shore Indians. Was always a pleasure to run into him. Keeper of the stats and scout. He will be truly missed. Loved watching them playing the game. He is going to play in the big one for the creator with all the greats before him. A sad day.
