William Arthur “Bill” “Jiggy” Passmore
November 23, 1930 - January 23, 2025
Peacefully at the Norfolk General Hospital, Simcoe on Thursday January 23, 2025, at the age of 94 years. Husband of the late Lois. Loving father of William (Linda), Penny (Phil), and Larry (Karen). Dear grandpa of Patricia (Ed), Brian, Melinda (Jeremy), Christina (Adam), Ryan (Emma), Nicole (Mike) and several great grandchildren and great great grandchildren. Best Friend, golfing buddy, and dance partner of Mary Wilson. He will be fondly remembered and sadly missed by the Wilson and Maxwell Families. (The BGA…..Bad Golfers Association). Bill is predeceased by his 20 brothers and sisters.
Bill spent his working life as a butcher, with his own butcher shop and later managing the meat department at a Calbeck’s (Sobey’s) store. He loved life and enjoyed it to the fullest. Always quick to offer a smile, a joke, some wisdom, and a wink of the eye. A firm believer that life was best enjoyed with a little Hank Williams music. He was a dog lover who enjoyed many activities and hobbies. Hunting, fishing, bird watching, trading small animals, bowling, and had a passion for golfing. The sole proprietor of “Bill’s Bunny Barn” (staff of one), he was well known at local livestock auction sales as a shrewd wheeler dealer and bargain hunter. On the golf course, Bill was a great putter and excelled at creative score card math! He was truly a first-class gentleman and wonderful father who left us with many happy memories and stories to tell. A life lived well.
The family would like to thank the doctor’s, nurses, and staff at Norfolk General Hospital (floors 3 and 4) for the care, compassion, and friendship they provided. It was very much appreciated.
Cremation has taken place. A celebration of his life will be held at a later date. As an expression of sympathy donations may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society, Alzheimers Society or the charity of your choice. Arrangements by Hyde & Mott Chapel, Hagersville. www.rhbanderson.com

Bill was a great neighbour and friend of our family when he and Lois lived on the Canboro Rd. I had the pleasure of visiting him years later when he work at Calbecks meat dept in Brantford. He had the most amazing smile and positive attitude when ever you saw him. The Ricker family send our deepest condolences to all of his family. R. I. P dear Bill.

Never a good time to hear of such sad news, especially with a person like Bill. I met Bill years ago at Springview Farm Golf Course and became instant friends with both he and Mary. Bill actually sold me one of his many sets of golf clubs, Taylormade graphite shafts and golf bag. Bill i've still got them and think of you every time i miss hit a shot, so i think of you often. Rest in Peace my friend, your smile and handshake will be missed. Condolences to Mary and your family.
