Sharon Ann Zylstra

1945 - 2024

Sharon passed away peacefully on September 11, 2024, just days after celebrating her 79th birthday.
Sharon was fiercely loved by her friends and family and a source of inspiration to all her neighbours. She was affectionately known as "the bike lady". On good weather days she could be found riding around celebrating her freedom on her beloved three-wheeler bike.

Predeceased by her father Arthur Ernest Winger and mother Helen Ann Winger (nee Pyle). She is survived by her husband and best friend, Frank, her four children, Melissa (Nemec), Matthew, Louise and Irene (Dunlop), six beloved grandchildren Beatrix, Benjamin, Henry, Hanah, Ellee, and Claire, and her wonderful clan of 9 siblings and their spouses.

As the eldest daughter, Sharon quickly became her mother's helper and initiated her into a life of service, which also played out in her professional life as an operating room nurse and wife to her beloved partner, Frank. Her faith-based values and constant support influenced the lives of her dear children, as from her perspective, motherhood was the most valuable gift in this lifetime.
Her kind-heartedness, love for people and a contagious smile translated into constant chats and enlightened spirits. Constantly caring for her home and husband, she was also known to dote over her beloved grandchildren and took great pleasure in helping them discover the world around them, which included cooking lessons and spoiling them with treats including the family-famous banana chocolate chip muffins.

While she left us far too soon, we take comfort in knowing she is now with her lord and those who we have loved and lost.

The family kindly asks that you remember Sharon as a source of love and an example of a life lived in alignment to her unwavering faith in Jesus.

Donations may be made in Sharon's name to her spiritual home, Melville Presbyterian Church.

Visitation, Funeral and reception services will be held on Monday September 16 at Melville Presbyterian Church, Old Kingston Road, Scarborough, Ontario.
A more intimate service will follow for family and loved ones unable to travel, on Tuesday September 17, 2024 at 12 noon at Hyde and Mott Chapel, Hagersville, Ontario, followed by internment at the Springvale Cemetery and reception at Springvale United Church. www.rhbanderson.com

Dear Frank and family,

This is extremely sad news for me. Sharon was a wonderful friend for almost fifty years, starting on the soccer pitch. She will be terribly missed by so many but we are thankful for her life of service and that she is now with Jesus. Take good care of yourselves.
