Sam was a lifelong resident of Decewsville and was proud to say that's where he was born.
He enlisted in the Canadian Army of which he was a Lance Corporal and one of the first Peace Keepers (UNEF). After his time in the army, Sam got his Class A mechanics license and built up his own business at which he worked at until his retirement. Sam was well known in the auto racing community where he had originally started out as a driver that led to being a co-owner, owner and builder of his own race cars. Many of his great friendships were made at the track.
There will be a graveside service at the Decewsville Cemetery on Saturday, January 7th at 2pm.
Sam was a Gentle Giant and will be greatly missed by his family, friends and fellow members at Highway Pentecostal Church. Arrangements by Hyde & Mott Chapel, Hagersville.

Its strange because just before Christmas I was in Sam's hometown and thought of him as I drove past his Shop. Sam was a friend of my father's, and I recall fondly the days when I would pop into Sam's shop to have something fixed. A farm machine, a car, truck - Sam could fix just about anything! He was a kind and patient man who loved his craft.
I am glad to have known him. He will be missed.
