So sorry to hear this news Lynne - Rick was a mentor, a great bass player, and an incredible guy. I know the musical community in Winnipeg is in mourning.

Rick loved to reminisce about God's Lake. May his ashes rest there peacefully. He was the BEST Buoy tech in the business, and taught me a lot during our tenure at the Port Met Office. Respectfully, my thoughts go out to the family he doted on. He was always telling stories about his grandson Jayden. May he be remembered as the "cool" grandpa he surely was.

Dear Lynne and Amy, I am so sorry to hear about your loss. Rick was a great man, a great father and I still think of him as a great friend, I know he loved you very much. I only saw him once since our days in Cornwall, it was at his retirement and we did not get to chat much. I do think of him all the time and I use many of his old slang terms (dart, schmig, and many others not fit for a public forum)to this day. He taught me many real life skills in those young years. I loved to hear his stories and laugh about the insane antics that were his early life. He was so happy when you and baby Amy moved to Cornwall to support him while he was in training. You were the most important people in his life. I would get stories from my brother John and close friend Steve Smith about Rick's adventures at the various weather stations in the Arctic. Please remember the good times and have little chuckle, I will. I have moved back to Winnipeg and I hope I hear about the timing for his Celebration of Life, I will be there for sure. Stay safe!! Sincerely Andrew
