Patsy Anthony Veri

It is with heavy hearts we announce the passing of Patsy Anthony Veri.  Pat had said many times he didn’t feel his age. Rather, he felt like a teenager still in his mind. Perhaps that is why during his illustrious career in corrections at Sprucedale he was able to be such a wonderful mentor to many young men and make the meaningful connections they needed for 25 years.  Pat was a lifelong Montreal Canadiens fan, and was proud of his team’s glorious championship history. He loved playfully rubbing salt in the wounds of long-suffering Maple Leafs fans almost as much. If he’d known he would live to be 67, he probably would have laughed and reminded us all that ’67 was the last year the Leafs won a Cup. We know, Pat. We know.   He was born during a snowstorm on January 27, 1954 in Hamilton, Ontario. At least that’s what Pat said. He had a lot of fantastic stories: wild hijinks from his youth, road trips to Habs games, and the unending list of musical talent he witnessed. We like the snowstorm story though, because that’s Pat – a joyful personality amid whatever tumultuous thing was happening. He was our centre of gravity, and our biggest support.  His sudden and unexpected passing at the West Haldimand General Hospital late Friday, November 19, 2021 has devastated us all.  Beloved partner of Melinda Monnier. Much loved father of Adam Veri, Justin Veri, and Maichina Veri (David). Dear brother of Linda MacLay and Clara De Luca, and son of the late Anthony and Maggie Veri. Fun uncle of Nina De Luca (Shawn), Jim De Luca (deceased), and Jason MacLay (Kim). He will be missed by grand nieces and nephews, old and new friends, and Sprucedale colleagues.  Visitations will take place on Saturday, November 27, 2021 at Hyde & Mott Chapel, 60 Main St. S., Hagersville from 2:00PM - 4:00PM and 6:00PM - 8:00PM.  A celebration of life will occur on a future date.  www.rhbanderson.com

Most sincere condolences. I grew up just a few doors down . Pat watched me from time to time. Grew up friends with Adam. I can always remember going over and watching ghost busters .. I also am a habs fan. When we would play street hockey he would come out and play with us kids. When I would play net and make a save he would call me Shaw na na na with the banana splits lol.. you will be greatly missed . Say hi to my dad up there please. Rest easy.

Heartfelt condolences.
Great photo! That's the Pasquale I remember.
Many great memories.
Playing on St. Marys, softball team. Pat played first and had the longest trapper I'd ever seen.
Altar boys. Always had trouble finding a gown that would fit Pat.
Pats' impressions made me laugh so much that I was relieved of duties as a 10 yr. old dishwasher at Tonys' Grill.
Taking slap shots on each other behind Sheldricks'
Road trips to Montreal and Buffalo to watch our habs.
Weddings, concerts, love of food, lifelong memories. Bravo.
What a great amico to have known, made me laugh and generously shared what he had.
Dio benedice te e tua famiglia sempre.

Our deepest condolences to Melinda and all of the Veri family. Pat was a terrific person with a sharp wit and great sense of humour. He had a very positive impact on many youth during his long and successful career in Youth Justice Services. An absolute pleasure to work with, and will be sadly missed by all that knew him.

Adam, I met your Dad a few times at Jo’s and he was indeed a nice man. He gave off a comfortable, strong feeling. He sure raised a fine, strong young man, you. I never met your brother or sister but I’m sure they’re wonderful people too. You were the part of the Noisy Crew who drove me out of the house.
