It is with profound sadness and broken hearts that we announce the passing of our hero Morley “Moe” Sandy. Cherished husband and bestfriend of 47 years to Mary L Sandy. Loved and adored by his children Brandy (Les), Brandon, Misty, Michelle, and Don. He was a proud papa to his treasures Bailey, Emily, Emmet, Matt, Kelsey, Charley, Tyrus, Mckayla, Bub, Kirby, Keaten,Keafer and Pyper. A loving great grandpa to 13 great grandchildren. Moe is reunited with his brother’s Chris, Cleveland and Gary, his parents Mitchell and Geraldine Sandy. He leaves behind his brothers and sisters Mike, Johnson (Brenda), Wendy, Gail, Brenda, Beverley (Freeman), Linda and Sherry. Numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. Moe was a proud brother for 50+ years to Ironworkers 736 and he was well known for his knowledge of the blast furnaces. Moe’s legacy of iconic work and dedication will be known throughout the workforce and community, he always had the community’s best interest at heart. Moe’s known for being tough and gruff with a heart of gold, that’s how he will be remembered. His short battle with Covid was the only fight he has ever lost. Heart felt appreciation to the ICU staff at St. Joe’s in Hamilton for the care and compassion. Visitation will be held at Hyde & Mott Chapel, 60 Main Street South Hagersville on Monday October 25, 2021 from 5-9 pm.  A private funeral will be held on Tuesday with cremation to follow. The entire Songer Family is so sadden by the news of losing our big brother Moe. He had helped our company get off the ground and running and was such a pleasure to work with. His laugh and boyish grin will be forever in our hearts. I personally have known him since my start with Jaddco back in the 80’s, but never knew him like I have since working side by side and shift by shift with him with Songer. Moe, to me, was always the iconic night shift Ironworker General Foreman that I never knew personally, mostly the reputation and the man who knew furnaces as well or better than anyone. Now after working side by side with him he was much more. A great story teller, reminiscing of past jobs, and just being brothers. The entire group of us will miss him dearly, and offer our sincerest condolences to his family. Too soon and too young. Perhaps he was needed to look after a big one in the sky, as there is nobody better to do that.
Rest in peace Moe

My condolences to the family. It’s not easy to cope with death. We feel helpless and our pain can be unbearable. There’s nothing we can do to bring that person back to life. But the Bible gives us a real hope. (John 5:28;29).” All those humans in the memorial tombs will hear his voice and come out.” This is what the Bible calls the resurrection! All my thoughts and my prayers go out to the family in this time of sorrow.

My deepest condolences to all of Moe's family and friends. It was always always a pleasure to work with Moe. He was always calm and collected and never got rattled over any issues that came up during the course of many blast furnace projects. Way too young to leave us Moe. Rest in peace, hopefully we'll meet in the here after someday.

There’s little I can say that truly expresses my condolences. Through many years of construction I was only as good as the men who worked by my side, and Moe was the best. Even when we got goofy and pied one another,Moe did it best. Your presence on Earth made many lives better God bless you.
