MONA WERNER
July 11, 1925 to May 11, 2024
With thankfulness to God for the cherished years and beautiful memories with our loving, nurturing mother, we sadly announce the passing of Mona Werner, two months before her 99th birthday.
Mona was the only child of the late Wilfred and Leta Held and the dear wife of the late Daniel Werner (1979). Loving mother of four children – Lynne (Bob) Swent, Karen (Brent) Zavitz, Bev (Dwight) Daley, Lee (Chris ) Werner.
Loving grandma to Andrea (Richard), Mike, Todd (Deanna), Jennifer (Mike), Laura (Mark), Jessica, Angela, Josh (Meghan), Kate (Wes), Sarah (Dave), Meghan (Brian). Much loved by 25 great grandchildren and two great- great grandchildren.
Mona was predeceased by her brothers and sisters-in-law – Catherine (Russell), Carl (Vera), John (Hazel), David (Florence), and is survived by Mary (Don, deceased), and many nieces and nephews.
Mona was a longtime faithful member of the Rainham Mennonite Church. For the past four years, Mom was a resident at Leisure Living, Jarvis, Norfolk General Hospital and Norview Lodge, Simcoe. Thank you to the staff who compassionately cared for Mom at each of these facilities.
Visitation will be held at Hyde & Mott Chapel, R.H.B. Anderson Funeral Home, 60 Main Street South, Hagersville on Wednesday, May 15 at 10:00 a.m. with a service following at 11:00 a.m.
In lieu of flowers, donations to the Rainham Mennonite Church or Haldimand-Norfolk REACH would be appreciated.
“When I come to the end of the road
And the sun has set for me
I want no rites in a gloom-filled room,
Why cry for a soul set free?”

My deepest condolences to you all. While I was very young when our family left Rainham so many of the people stayed with me through the years. I have fond memories of Mona and the one thing that came to mind when I heard of her passing was her smile. It was always so warm and loving and always reached her eyes❤. My prayers are with you as you celebrate her incredible life. Her legacy lives on in her family.

Greetings to the Werner family.
We share our condolences with you. We pause with you in these moments of sacred celebration as we honour the life and memory of your dear mother. Her smile, her words of encouragement, her gift of hospitality and her faithful Christian testimony are the legacy that she leaves with us. As we remember your mother Mona we are reminded how she worked together so closely with your father Daniel. We remember the moments when she nursed him back to health. Now they are together again rejoicing in the presence of Christ.
We remember how your home was filled with music and although your father did not make the greatest contribution in the bass section of the church choir he made up for it by making sure all was in place so the choir programs could be presented without a problem. Indeed your parents have left us a sacred inheritance. Thanks be to God. David for the Shantz
