LONGBOAT: Maynard George

It is with great sorrow yet happiness for the graduation of Mayn, at the age of 77 years, on August 13, 2021. He has now joined all the loved ones in heaven. He will be greatly missed by his beloved wife of 40 years, Diane (nee Charles); his children Monica (late Bill Clause), George, late Terry Marsh (Bobby), Kelly, Jason (Pearl), Robert, Darren, and Lisa. He leaves a legacy of 21 grandchildren, numerous great grandchildren, and some great great grandchildren. His many friends and caregivers will miss his rascally teasing. His life-long friend, Herbert Garlow will miss their happy coffee times together. Also, a special thanks to Liz, Carla, the children of Monica, and Tiffany VanEvery (care giver extraordinaire). Mayn’s siblings left behind are Alice Bomberry (Blake), Cecil, Lyle (Judy), Marguerite Crowe (David), Gail Byl (Hank), Hardy (Donna), Karen Longboat Stevenson (late Horace), Tom (Valerie), as well as the late Arnie, Betty Henry (Charlie), and Edna May (Goosens) Van Loy (Leo). Thanks to the awesome staff throughout the Six Nations Health Services Programs; the caring staff of the Hamilton - St. Joseph’s Juravinski Centre (Nephrology Unit), Hamilton General, and Brantford General Hospital. Mayn’s final wishes were to be cremated with no viewing, visitation, funeral service or meal, and to thank everyone for all their love, prayers, support and comforting his family. He was aware that a memorial service would be held at a later date when Covid restrictions would be lifted. Arrangements have been entrusted to Styres Funeral Home, Ohsweken. If desired, a memorial donation can be made to the Six Nations Dialysis Unit, Six Nations Health Foundation or the Hamilton Health Sciences Foundation, or to your favourite charity. Nya:weh.

My sincerest condolences to Maynards Family, he surely will be missed by many. He was such a teaser, Always tried to be a crab but deep down he did have a heart of gold!
He was a trooper when it came to his health! You my friend can eat all the macaroni salad you want now. Just hopes it’s good as mine!!!

It was with great sadness that I learned of Maynards passing. Please accept my heartfelt condolences and in some small way that they will help in these trying times. Grief can be hard but may your special memories help you cope. I was a neighbour of Maynards on Sunrise will miss seeing him sitting out and going by on his scooter. Keeping the family in my thoughts and prayers.

This very sad to hear about Maynard. I knew Maynard from driving his to his doctor appt. That’s to bad for what happened to him . He we also in group club at the Dajoh. Where before COVID happen he was a regular at the 55 and over club. He live doing activities there . His favourite for sure was Wifi bowling . He lived to beat at that . You will be missed Maynard. May you Rest In Peace my friend.

I’m so saddened by Maynard leaving this world but also happy he got his wish to stop all his medical appts. I was his medical driver, his therapist, his funny and amusing friend who always joked with him. He always threatened to tell Christal when i cursed another driver or made it thru a yellow light. He jokingly told Christal that I better drive him or else he was going to kick my ass. I loved driving him to appts cause he was so kind, gentle, caring and lovable. He wouldn’t agree with my opinion as he always tried to appear as a grumpy old man. He would tell me I was just like my ma, Beatrice. I’m really going to miss Maynard but I knew he wasn’t going to be with us much longer. RIP my lovable friend, I miss you already. Condolences to Maynard’s family.

I first met Maynard at the Dajoh 55+ program. We all enjoyed his presence at the Dajoh centre whenever he could attend. There was just something about him. Whenever he was there, the atmosphere just became more fun, more laughing, more jokes and more appreciating each other. I'm very glad to have met Maynard. He will be missed by many. Condolences and prayers to all his family.
