Linda Ilene Barker (nee Lyne)
March 8, 1945 - June 5, 2026
It is with great sadness and sorrow, that we announce the peaceful and sudden passing of Linda Barker on Friday, June 5, 2026 at the age of 81. She was surrounded by her loving family and friends on the day of and the day leading to her passing.
Linda was a devoted wife, mother, grandma and great-grandma and has now joined her son Jeff. She will be missed dearly and remembered forever by her husband of 63 years, Charlie, children Connie (Pete Stubbs), Danny, Jeff (deceased 2020) (Stacey), and Brad (Marsha), grandchildren Elizabeth (Scott), Michael, Ryan, Brendan, Danielle (Vinny), Kelsey (Bill), Kyle (Rylee), Ciara (Dylan), Clinton (Ellie) and Jaclyn (Mark), as well as 8 beautiful great-grandchildren.
Linda was predeceased by her parents Chuck and Joyce Lyne and her brother Brian. She is survived by brothers Jack (Brenda) and Bill (Paullette), sister-in-law Pat and sister Vicki McKnight (Harvey).
She was predeceased by brother-in-laws Robert and George, and is survived by brother-in-laws Clair, Ray, and sister-in-laws Joyce Burgess and Lois Adnum along with many nieces and nephews.
Although Linda was raised and lived in a town environment, her passion for farming quickly grew when she and Charlie started Bar-Lin Acres Charolais in 1979 until their retirement in 2011. She was actively involved in many organizations with the highlight of her agricultural career when she was elected as the first female president of the Ontario Cattlemens Association in 1997. She was also recognized for her commitment to the Haldimand Cattlemens Association, the Ontario Charolais Association, the Canadian Charolettes Association, the Beef Information Centre, and as an announcer for the Norfolk County Fair cattle shows for many years.
Linda was never shy of a conversation with anyone and quickly got to know all she met including details of their lives and often found common associations and interests. Linda will be remembered as having a good heart and as a source of fun and joy.
The family invites you for visitation on Monday, June 8th from 2:00 to 4:00 and 7:00 - 9:00 pm. The funeral service will be held on Tuesday, June 9th at 11:00 am at the Hyde and Mott Chapel, RHB Anderson Funeral Home, 60 Main St., Hagersville, ON.

So sorry to hear about the passing of Linda, truly a remarkable woman. Our times with the family in Fisherville were very special. Also, enjoyed our Port Dover visits in the garage. In Linda’s memory, we will be donating to our food bank golf tournament in Haldimand.

This is sudden and very sad news for everyone touched by Linda. Our hearts and prayers go out to Charlie and the entire Barker family.
Similar to Ben & Karen, we too were warmly welcomed to the neighbourhood by the Barkers. In our case, very shortly after our arrival, we had to make an unexpected trip out to Edmonton for a funeral. Upon our return, we were very clearly advised by Linda that leaving without letting the neighbours (ie Linda & Charlie) know did not allow them the opportunity to keep an eye on things for us whilst we were gone. At that very moment, we knew we had great neighbours and we will certainly miss Linda. Rest in peace Linda.

My sympathies to Charlie and the Barker family. Linda was past president of the Ontario Cattlemen's Association when I started working there in 1998. She was a kind and supportive board member to OCA staff and always willing to take time to answer my many cattle questions. I appreciated her great sense of humour too.

Dear Charlie and All The Barker Family:
Like so many, I really loved Linda and the friendship that we had. I was proud to be on her OCA Team when she became President. She made us all so proud. While our visits back them were primarily beef industry topics, the best parts were when we switched to Charolais vs Herefords....and then about our Families.
Linda was so proud of each and every one of you....you all will have such great memories.
Linda will be so missed by all of us.

Charlie and Families - Linda was a memorable woman of strength from my OCA days. We both loved Charolais cattle and that gave us some common ground. I remember when Jean Chrétien visited the 1996 Haldimand County Plowing Match and came to see the Bar-Lin Bull that was prominently displayed in front of the OCA tent. She was so nervous and worried but the whole deal went off without a hitch and she was the proudest Charolais owner on the grounds. It was one of many great memories I have of Linda. Sending our heart felt sympathy to your family and her many friends.

My deepest sympathy to Charlie and family and to the Lyne family. We got to know Linda & Charlie through the advent calendar house event at Christmas and I found out she knew my family when they had the tobacco farm. What a small world.
