It is with great sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of Josephine Sandy, in her 84th winter. Otahyo:nih niyagosyao’de:, Gayogoho:no niyagohwejode:. Born November 30th, 1941 at Lady Wellingdon Hospital, Hodinohsyo:nih Territory. 

Daughter of the late Cassie(Hill) & Oliver Jacobs. Eldest sibling to Norma, Robert, Charlotte, Susan & sister-in-law Michelle. Medicine friend to Chad. Loving mother to Leiza, Derek, Sonya(Curtis), Lyle(Ang), Sharon, Du(Peg), Ali(Kelly), & Jim(Cindy). Cherished grandmother of many grandchildren and great grandchildren. Also known as "Auntie O & Papa Jo”. Aunt to many nieces & nephews and even more cousins. Extra special Auntie to Kelly Gawehnanoh and Sayokla

Predeceased by grandparents Bessie (Hess) and Izekiel (Hill), Elsie (Johnson) & Freeman Jacobs Sr., husband Daniel M. Sandy Sr., sisters; Sylvia & Ervine, brother Irwin, sister-in-law Bonnie, son-in-law Jim, children Sandra and Pat, granddaughter Cassie, & great-grandsons; Nash and Brian Jr.

Dear friend to Fawn, Ilene, cousin Ruby and her fellow Land Protectors.

Resting at Sonya and Curtis' 1873 6th line, Friday January 2nd, 2026 after 3pm. Funeral service to be held Sunday January 4th at 11am at Seneca Longhouse. Burial & lunch reception will be held at Lower Cayuga dining hall.  Arrangements by Styres Funeral Home,            www.rhbanderson.com
