GREENFIELD: John William
It is with incredible sadness we announce the passing of John William Greenfield, who went to be with our Lord on January 1, 2022 at 1:00am. He died peacefully in his home after watching the ball drop with his wife of 4 years, E. Angela. He is survived by his brother Doug (Vera), his sister Betty, and his three children Joan, Hugh (Jen) and Sandra (Michael). Proud grandfather to Olivia, Spencer, Callum, Ben, Cyndi and Avryl. Very special Uncle to Gerry (Cathy), Joyce (George), Jeff, Susan (Roger), Chris (Rhonda), Gavin and Sheila. Born July 4th, 1946 in Hamilton, Ontario to Hugh and Edna (nee McKeen), growing up on the family farm outside of Springvale, his days were spent by his Dad’s side farming, eventually taking over the farm after his parents moved to town when he married. He met Edith (Cossar) in his early 20’s and spent the next 45 years with her until her passing in April 2014. They were avid members of the community and Springvale United Church. John and Edith built a beautiful life together on the farm, raising the three children there and eventually enjoying watching the 6 grandchildren come to play on the beautiful land. Grateful to have found E. Angela in 2017, he spent the last four years with her at his side creating even more wonderful memories. He was a hard working man, farming and then eventually a truck driver, and until his early death, a school bus driver. His days trucking may be where he had the most fun. Traveling the highways often with Edith at this side, making friends wherever he went, and always had time for a chat with anyone. He was humble, kind, and his sense of humour will be missed by all who knew him. We imagine him in Heaven now, Edith in the passenger seat, driving a truck down a long quiet road, farmland on either side and a smile on his face, looking down at the beautiful life he created and the family he left behind. A private family service will be held. Arrangements entrusted to RHB Anderson Funeral Homes (Hyde and Mott, Hagersville). A celebration of life will be held at the farm at a later date. In lieu of flowers donations to the Heart and Stroke Foundation are appreciated. www.rhbanderson.com

We extend our deepest and heartfelt condolences to the entire Greenfield family. John was most caring, a great conversationalist and perhaps the most courteous, law-abiding motorist on the road. He will be truly missed. Blessings

So very sorry to hear of John's passing. He was and continued to be a much loved member of our family at Contrans. John worked for us for many years and we also had the extra bonus of Edith accompanying him into the office. He was a tried and true driver and as the saying goes "they don't make them like him anymore". Sadly missed but never forgotten. Our deepest sympathies to the family.
