I, too, had Mr.Fisher as a principal, during his early teaching career, at Nanticoke, when I was in the Junior room of the two room school. I recall his keeping our entire class in from recess because someone had reported a theft. Mr. Fisher lectured us repeatedly on the evils of stealing and when he ran out of things to say, he suggested ways to keep the cloak rooms tidy. After what seemed like an eternity, to a six or seven year old, we were finally released to play. The girl who had reported the missing boots had found them at home! Mr. Fisher went on to a long and successful career and Haldimand County residents were privileged to have had him in the school system.

Condolences to Marion and Jake Jr. on Jake Senior's passing. I always enjoyed dealing with Jake on any business issues over the years. He was a real gentleman. I was also pleased to be involved with Jake and others on the Historical Committee which lead to the publication by Don Brown in 1990 of "Down Memory Lane" which was a glimpse of Hagersville's past. Jake was a great citizen. May he rest in peace.

Marion and Jake Jr., My sincere condolences on the loss of Jake. As you no doubt remember, he and my father spent many a summer evening standing in one or the other’s driveway, mulling over the events of the day, month or year. I remember Jake Sr. as a kind, gentle giant. I hope your memories will be of comfort to you at this difficult time. Gods speed, Jake.

Dear Marion and Jake,
Mr. Fisher was my very first principal at Fairview Elementary. He hired me right out of Teaches’ College so that I could teach junior music in a pod with Sheila Mozes and Jean Tefft. That was my lucky day! Because of him, my experience was positive, enthusiastic, and wonderful. I continued a teaching career that spanned 30 years and frequently thought of him and blessed the day that I was chosen to teach for Mr. Fisher. He genuinely supported his teachers and made each of us feel proud and successful; a quality of a true leader and very rare. He never took credit, aways directing it back onto his staff. I was at an event over the weekend with Sheila and we were speaking of Mr. Fisher and wondering where he was. Imagine my surprise when I opened my Goodwill email to see that he had passed. My sincere sympathy to you. He was a special man.
