Douglas Lorne Dreier

It is with immense sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved Douglas Lorne Dreier on January 8th 2024 in his 83rd year. Surrounded by his family at Norfolk General Hospital.

Cherished husband to Brenda (nee Best), loving Father to Jennifer Kivell (Andrew Nicholson), Mishelle Dreier (Anne McIntosh), Kristy Dreier (Nick Langdon), Grandfather to Kaiya and Kwyn Kivell, Cameron Rogerson, Leo and Dax Langdon. Presdeceased by parents Lorne and Annie Dreier, Howard and Jean Best and his son Paul Dreier.

Doug was raised in Kitchener Ontario. He had 24 years working with Ontario Hydro where he took an early retirement and another 30 years driving school bus with Laidlaw and Sharps Bus Lines. Doug and the family also fondly recall the days where he played Santa Clause at Santa's Castle Downtown Simcoe.

He enjoyed travelling and the 15 winters they had in Florida.

Doug will always be remembered for his sense of humour and his ability to light up a room with laughter. He had the most incredible ability to make everyone in his presence smile. He was kind, funny and the easiest person to get along with. Respected by his community, loved by his friends and family, he will be sorely missed.

The celebration of life for Douglas Lorne Dreier will be January 27th 2024 from 11 am until 2 p.m. at the Royal Canadian Legion. Branch 79, 200 West St. Simcoe. Family burial will take place at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorials or donations may be made to the Simcoe Humane Society. Arrangements are entrusted to the R.H.B. Anderson Funeral homes Ltd., in Hagersville.  www.rhbanderson.com

Dear family: This is one of the hardest condolences messages I think I’ve ever had to leave. No one was ready to lose the love and the friendship that came from knowing Doug Dreier. He was one of a kind. A true gem of a man, a gentleman and someone who would give you the shirt off his back. He was loved beyond measured by all who had the pleasure of having him in their lives. There are not enough words in the world that can help you during this time and I know his memory will be a blessing and a legacy for you all to carry on. With much love and prayers for comfort, peace and healing. ????????❤️
