Scott Eugene Mohawk Smith
April 22, 1957 - September 3, 2025
Scott Eugene Mohawk Smith passed away peacefully on September 3rd, 2025 at Joseph Brant Hospital. He was 68 years old.
Scott is survived by his sons, Colton (Bronwyn Lamond) and Travis. Also surviving are his siblings Barbara, George (Fran), Sandy, Jerry (Yvonne), Ramona, Wanda, Cindy (Tony), Kari and Brock. To some he was known as "Dot", Parker and Nolan will always remember the love and generosity that he showered on them. He will be missed by many nieces, nephews, cousins and Special friends Deb Rauter, Jenn & Sean Riley; and Arturo, Maria & Alma Duran. Scott is predeceased by his parents, AGE III (Chubby) and Darlene (Doepping); and sister Florence Dunham.
Scott was born in Harbor City, California and later lived in San Pedro and Long Beach. His parents and siblings later moved to the Six Nations Reserve near Brantford, Ontario. As a teen he was outgoing and athletic, participating in a variety of sports including basketball and rugby.
Scott always had an entrepreneurial spirit and found success throughout his career. He founded and started Pro Shred (the first mobile shredding unit) in 1985, a company still operating to this day. Scott participated in many other industries, including web domains, mineral exploration, alternative housing, and financial technologies. He was also active in his community, the Six Nations of the Grand River, and worked to advance Indigenous business in Canada as the first member of the Canadian Council of Aboriginal Business (CCAB).
He loved reading and the outdoors. If he wasn’t at a coffee shop working on his next project, he could be found on one of his patented long walks around town. Scott was an innovator. He was always up to date with changing times and technology and loved to share that knowledge with others.
A visitation and Celebration of Life will be held on Monday, September 22nd, 2025 between 11:00 AM and 3:00 PM with light refreshments at Native Horizons Treatment Centre, 130 New Credit Rd, Hagersville.
As expressions of sympathy, donations to the Canadian Cancer Society or Six Nations Food Bank would be greatly appreciated by Scott’s family.

To everyone in Deb and Scott's family, please accept my sincere condolences for your loss. I knew Scott through a business network and we became colleagues and friends. I last saw him on a trip to Vancouver a couple of years ago, as always busy and interested in everything and everyone he came to meet with there.
He will be long remembered.

SO SORRY I COULD NOT SAVE YOU THIS TIME ! You were about a year and a half old. You lived behind Grandma Bergman's house on Wendell place in San Pedro, California. Your dad had done some metal work. There were little pieces of corkscrew metal pieces laying around. You got one caught in your throat! Wanda came running in the house yelling " Scott's choking!" I ran outside picked you up. Turned you upside down and patted your back. Out came the piece of metal! I was so scared! I was only sixteen at the time. Rest in peace Scott ! Give your ma-ma a big hug and kiss for me !

My deepest sympathies to all my cousins and their families. My mom reminded me of a story she told me many years ago when Scott came to visit us and I was just a toddler...I looked up at him and gave him a big smile at the door and he picked me up and held me for a while before he left. A tenderhearted moment. I also have a fond memory of working alongside Scott in his Chase The Ace fundraiser he organized a few years ago for Native Horizons. He certainly was a bright, charismatic guy. May his spirit continue to inspire all who cherish our memories of Scott.
