Lois Jean Personnic
December 5, 1935 - July 27, 2024

It is with a very heavy heart that we announce the passing of our dear Mum and Grandma, Lois Jean Personnic (nee Stewart) on July 27, 2024 (Paul in 1997).  Lois was born on December 5, 1935, raised in Burlington Ontario and where she later met her loving husband Paul.  In 1963 Lois, Paul and their four children moved to Hagersville.  Shortly after moving to town, Lois began working in the newly built West Haldimand General Hospital in the Medical Records department.  Her career changed quickly when the decision was made to open a family business. From 1974-1996, Lois and Paul were the proud owners of Personnic Country Market.  They worked together and made lifelong friends with their employees and customers.

Lois loved entertaining her family, reading, working at the library, gardening, supporting the community and spending time with friends.  She was also a member of the Hagersville United Church.  Paul and Lois were so proud to live and work in this community.

Lois will be remembered for the unwavering love of her family and the great times spent with her grandchildren, in Ontario and British Columbia.  She enjoyed traveling with her husband to visit family in Jersey, Channel Islands and Brittany, France.

Lois is survived by her children, Elaine, Paul (Lucy), Gail (Laszlo), Sandra (Dave), grandchildren Kathryn, Duncan, Michael, Andrea, Andrew (Shailah), Peter (Sara), Philip, Jason (Kristen), Alison (Nigel), Sean (Chelsea), great grandchildren Isabella, Lorelei, Eloise, Maison, Lola, Zoe, Xavier, Freya, Samuel, and Eleanor.

Sister to Joyce Moore, sister-in-law to Joe Moore, David Garnier, and Jennifer Personnic, Aunt to many nieces and nephews, and remembered dearly by family in Jersey Channel Islands and Brittany France.

Lois was predeceased by her parents, Douglas L. and Freda Stewart, grandchildren Stephen and Genevieve, brother-in-law Yves Personnic, sisters-in-law June Personnic, Collette Garnier and Suzanne LeGuen.

A special thank-you to the staff of Idelwyld Manor for the compassion and excellent care provided to Lois over the past few years.

The family will receive friends at the HYDE & MOTT FUNERAL CHAPEL, 60 Main Street South, Hagersville on Wednesday July 31, 2024.  Visitation from 10:00 am to 11:00 am, Service in the Chapel at 11:00 am, followed by Burial at Hagersville Cemetery, then a Celebration of Life at the Hagersville United Church.

Memorial donations can be made to the West Haldimand General Hospital, Hagersville United Church, or a charity of your choice.  Friends are invited to send condolences and sign the Book of Memories at www.rhbanderson.com

My condolences to Elaine, Gail, Paul, Sandra, et al. I have so many wonderful memories of visits to your home and the market when I was small. I can picture the home on King Street vividly, including the upstairs bedrooms where I’d often sneak up to hang out (bother) Elaine, Gail and Sandra during our visits. And of course, I remember sweet Fluffy :). Lois was a kind, gentle soul whose friendship meant a great deal to my Mom and my parents enjoyed many happy times with Paul and Lois. I hope there is a lovely reunion taking place in their eternal home. May your memories bring you warmth and comfort at this difficult time. Sending my love to you all.

Paul and Lois were good friends to our family, and were so kind to us over the years; we will always appreciate their love and warm hearts. Elaine, Paul, Gail, Sandra et al;

Condolences are extended to the entire family. Lois was a lovely, funny, kind woman. She was an early role model of someone who managed a large household, successfully raised 4 childen while at the same time, being fully employed outside the home. Not common in the 1960s.

My siblings and i have lots of fine memories of hanging out in the Personnic house, especially during Christmas and summer school holidays.

Best wishes to the family as you move on from this milestone.
