"Burnzy" Douglas Peter Burns
May 16, 1953 – June 26, 2026
Doug passed away peacefully surrounded by family on Friday June 26, 2026 at the age of 73. Beloved husband of Beverly Janette Burns (Stenhouse). Profoundly missed by children Melissa, Michele (Jay), and Megan (Cam). Endearingly called “Grumpy Grandpa” by Mya, Mackenzie, Spencer, and Austin. Youngest son of Douglas and Maude Burns, and brother to Marilyn (Gary), predeceased by Sharon (Don), and Donna (Don). Son-in-law to Ken and Marlene Stenhouse, and brother-in-law to their seven children. Doug was an uncle to many nieces and nephews.
Doug grew up in Waterdown, where at an early age he volunteered at the fire department, joining his father who was the Chief. His love for golf led him to working at many golf courses, eventually opening his own business The Reel Guys. “Dougie” had many passions in life which included playing 3rd base for the Waterdown Rangers and Optimist teams. He also enjoyed bowling, horseshoes, camping and fishing. Doug easily made many good friends wherever he went with his playful and outgoing personality. He enjoyed taking trips with his wife Bev to many destinations across Canada. The east coast was his favorite.
Burnzy was known to love a good party. A celebration of life will be held at the Burns’ residence on September 26th between 2-8pm. www.rhbanderson.com

Bev and family, very sorry to hear of Doug's passing. He was so much fun to be around, whether it be golfing, playing cards or watching NASCAR to name a few. It won't be the same without him. Deepest condolences to all of you.

From running to the firehall half dressed in the middle of the night, fighting fires, raising money to purchase the Jaws of Life, firefighter conventions, waterball champions, slow pitch champions, pin setters at the bowling alley, demolition derbys, watching the ballet in Breslau, stuffing ourselves with pies at fire training,
shrimp & fries at the Kirk, cold beers after practice Monday nights at the Kirk, with Bev usually shaking her head at our antics, it was a great way growing up in Waterdown, thanks for the memories Burnzy, we even somehow survived the tanker explosion on Hey. 6, so lucky to hang out in the 70's, RIP my friend, it was a blast!

Bev and family. So deeply sorry for your loss. Burnzy was an awesome
friend to all that knew and cared about him. So many fun, and amazing times,
trips and memories we all made together that will never be forgotten.
